Patrick Dent is a keen amateur Mathematician, who is focused on Mechanical Engineering and has been writing music since the age of about 12 when he discovered the software “Sibelius”. He's was the keyboard player in the band Rock and Roll Sons . He is now number 38 on the ReverbNation Instrumental charts for London, UK. He has 250 subscribers to his youtube music channeland is also a cameraman. He shot the footage for one of the internal safety films for Arriva Trains Wales.
It was Patrick's discovery of Propellorhead's “Reason 3” software that launched his electronic music writing career. The first song he wrote was called “Mountains of Mercury” and lends a lot of themes to later songs he has composed [listen] .
Patrick has now been writing digital music for the last 10 years and he often writes his compositions to feature mostly synth sounds and minor chords progressions. He's studied music technology at University of Glamorgan. He began learning programming and coding at A level. But has since been teaching himself many of the current programming languages. He refines the immersive and interactive environments and products he creates as an iterative process while he develops his programming skills. Patrick has a passion for “making” physical constructs with his hands.
He's created many electronic product designs and digital productions including games, websites and films for the past 4 years [photography & graphic art portfolio of work; photography portfolio].
Patrick shares Roxanne's interest in kinetic/ mechanical systems and using technology for the benefit and empowerment of humanity. He combines his passion for Pure Maths, his knowledge of Applied Computer Science with skills in Music Technology and Mechanical Engineering to deconstruct systems and assemblies creatively fusing engineering and computer aided design to innovate hybrid prototypes.
He also uses his skills for the good of the people and the planet.
Previously, Patrick has crafted a custom electric bike using this methodology. He's won 8 awards for his photos. Currently he is working on the fabrication of his PanBot robot. Patrick has used the Waldorf Micro Q Omega Phoenix Edition, the Waldorf Blofeld and the Roland JV1080, as well as NI Kontakt, FM8 and occasionally Propellerhead Reason.
Patrick creatively applies engineering and programming to deliver art designed by Associated Media Ltd.

Roxanne Walters has studied architecture, and leads the design agency - Associated Media Ltd. Our artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. We identify needs in society and design solutions to meet these needs. Our team engages with subjects as diverse as civil/human rights, education, youth unemployment/ underemployment, housing poverty including homeless, stimulating local economies and the development of trade and infrastructure of regions. Our designed responses range from an interactive, immersive environment whether this is a digital or real time experience / game, event, festival, infrastructure project or architecture.
The subject matter of each body of work we create determines the materials, forms and material expression of each body of work. Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings.
Roxanne is interested in the process of connecting building components to create structure. This interest informs how each of Associated Media Ltd's designed responses are expressed. Roxanne is constantly exploring how building components can be put together to engineer innovative structures and uplifting expressions of space by:
-
exploring the ideas of “progression”,“threshold” and “journey” through a building.
Roxanne manipulates light, shadow and materials to:
-
sculpt space
-
use familiar building codes and techniques such as planes for floors, walls or wall art and reinterpret these by a rich visual and tactile conceptual over-layering of her interpretation of “architectonic language”.
-
virtual and Augmented reality, plus video as a design tool
-
algorithms as a tool to design, test and build architecture
-
algorithms as a tool to design, test and build kinetic buildings
-
algorithms as a tool to map, study and understand an existing context or geo-location of crisis
-
to research the best response to an identified need
-
fusing the knowledge gained from study and research to iterate the best way to integrate a chosen design response within the site
-
Everything we do at Associated Media Ltd is for the good of the people and the planet. We believe good design can be innovative, yet enhances life and is sustainable.
This type of design does not have to be expensive and must be inclusive.
